Let me let YOU in on a little secret
Social media is the most powerful way to build a creative network. I don't intend for this little blurb to become a marketing lesson, but man is there so much potential in one app than any classified section could conjure. Even as a millennial, I felt something a little taboo about meeting complete strangers from the internet. Once you get over the misconception that the only people waiting to meet others online have less than satisfying intentions (don't get me wrong, those people still exist!) you'll realize one simple hashtag can reveal how many like-minded creatives are right around the corner.
Only a few days ago, I stumbled upon the account of local model+photographer, Isabel Fahim (@ohbeanseed on ig). Right off the bat, its easy to appreciate her beauty. While practicing her modeling skills, Isabel also has an impressive photography portfolio. The combo of the two arts created in front of and behind the lens, is why I knew we'd click right off the bat!
Isabel recently started working and practicing in both fields, her skills on either end aren't just impressive for their time, this girl is good. I really love her photography style, but what I love most is that she brought the same style she creates with her own camera to the shoot, without interrupting mine. Her art style; vintage, quirky, edgy and slightly minimalist, bled through the lens and into my bright, crisp, slightly traditional yet modern-style photos. The mesh of the two came together so easily, I went shutter happy for about 3 and a half hours!
Time flew by as we hopped from location to location. We both spent some time in front of eachothers' camera and Im so excited to see the final products from Isabel. A huge thank you to her for the time and practice exchanged.
